3rd Class Menu of Work 15th-19th June

Hi Rang a Trí!

I hope everyone is well and finding the school work manageable. There are two weeks left so try your best to stay focused and we will cross the finishing line together! Thanks for the engagement and correspondence last week. It’s lovely to hear from you and receive samples of work. I received a variety of work from all subject areas. Once again, if you haven’t been in contact please do so before the summer holidays!

With the travel restrictions lifted to moving within the county, I thought we’d be off spinning in the car everyday day but we weren’t. We’ve got used to staying at home and find it hard to get organised to go anywhere. I tend to pack for all seasons when we are leaving the house so there’s jackets, wellies, sun cream, sun hats and spare clothes in the boot! The kids sometimes wonder are we going on a sleepover! There was one trip to town to get shoes that were badly needed for the kids. One of my kids was going around in wellies for the last week or two as his runners were too small and the hand me downs were too big!

My kids spent most of the week outside. They must not feel the cold at all as on the cold windy days, they were outside in t-shirts and shorts/ sun dresses and I gave up telling them to put on their jumpers! Conor spent an evening on the bog footing turf and nearly fell into the bed when he got home! He was so tired. My brother rang one day to say he was calling for a picnic with the kids and that he would bring the goodies. I was getting all set for joining in but was told it was invitation only!! They had such fun and the laughter I heard made me smile. The picnic was followed by a movie so the kids had a great evening. Who needs to leave the house!

Back to your school work! The topic of the week in maths is ‘Number Sentences’. You will look at number sentences and determine whether you need to add, subtract, multiply or divide. ‘Hit the Button’ is still on the go for your division tables. Please send me a screenshot of your score! I received a score last week that I have to match myself. No pressure!! You will learn about ‘My Family’ in History and ‘Ócáidí Speisialta’ (Special Occasions) is the theme in Gaeilge. This week you will learn words and phrases about ‘Ceiliúradh’ (Celebrations). English this week consists of R.Z, E.I.P, S.W. and Hand Writing. You can access ‘Ready, Steady, Write’ on the Folens website if you don’t have it at home. Your challenge in Art is to draw a beach scene including some things I have listed. I would love to see your drawings.

This is a ‘menu’ of work, not prescribed, so please complete what fits with your own household and present circumstances including plenty of outdoor activity. I do not expect all work to be completed by all students. I know it’s getting tougher to stay focused but please try and do some English, Irish and Maths.

If you have any academic questions or queries, you can contact me at the following e mail address msleonardrockfieldns@gmail.com Don’t be afraid to email me if you need clarification/answers or suggested solutions to anything. You can also e-mail me some of your work or a screenshot of it!

Have a great week!

Ms. Leonard
