3rd Class Menu of Work 2nd-5th June
Hi Rang a Trí!
I hope you all had a lovely bank holiday weekend. I know if we were in school, we would be crossing off the days on the classroom calendar now that we are in June! I hope you are all doing well at home and continuing with some of the weekly work as we approach the end of the school year. I often think of the fun we had during the year and how good you all were for answering out. I received a lovely letter via e-mail from one girl last week who was wondering if i missed the ‘Thursday Grammar’ days!! Do you remember how I used get so excited on a Thursday morning! I can’t say the same for some of your faces but I secretly know you enjoyed it too!!
Once again, we had a great week of weather. The sun cream was out in my house and it was everywhere! I kept coming across white hand marks on the couch, windows and even the floor! We made soup a few days as it is a big hit in my house (even during the hot weather!) My kids would drink soup every day if they could and they can’t understand how they don’t like certain vegetables but when they are put in the soup they don’t mind! I don’t have a specific recipe but just see what vegetables are in the fridge and put them all in. We always add a good few potatoes to thicken the soup and cream for special occasions! Our neighbours are so good to us. We got scones, home-made brown bread, ice creams and crisps. We will have to increase the amount of exercise we are doing!
Back to your school work! The topic of the week in maths is ‘Time’. You will learn time on the analogue and digital clock, look at timetables and do some calendar work. I hope the tutorials are helping you understand the maths concepts somewhat. I’d love you to use ‘Hit the Button’ for your division tables. You will learn about ‘The Weather’ in Science and I’d love you to look or listen to the weather forecast. This is the last week of ‘Caitheamh Aimsire’ in Gaeilge. English this week consists of R.Z, E.I.P and Hand Writing. You can access ‘Ready, Steady, Write’ on the Folens website if you don’t have it at home. There is also an art activity that I would love to see if you complete it. You have to pick one word and express it using lines, patterns and colour.
This is a ‘menu’ of work, not prescribed, so please complete what fits with your own household and present circumstances including plenty of outdoor activity. I do not expect all work to be completed by all students. Monday 1st June is a bank holiday so you can work 4 or 5 days this week. I know it’s getting tougher to stay focused but please try and do some English, Irish and Maths.
