3rd Class Work 5th-8th May
Hi Rang a Trí!
I hope everyone had a good week, got on well with the work and enjoyed the staff presentation video! We miss you all so much and can’t wait to be back in the classroom in the school environment. I was delighted to receive some emails from parents and children last week. Monday 5th is a bank holiday so feel free to work Tuesday – Friday or spread the work over the 5 days. How did you all get on with hit the button?? I got 28/28 in both x4 and x8. I am going to keep trying to better my score! I will be packing my bags for some of the holiday destinations you wrote about in your Persuasive Writing when we return to normal! I was very impressed with the planning, organisation, vocabulary and phrases used.
This week in my household, we spent a lot of time looking at ‘seagulls’! The field next to my house was ploughed and is going to be reseeded. Lots and lots of seagulls arrived and my kids spent ages sitting on the fence looking at them. Our neighbour told us that seagulls follow tractors as the ploughing disturbs the insects and that means there is lots of food available. We also went for walks, found lots of jobs to do around the house and the game of the week seemed to be ‘hide and seek’! My youngest just hid in the same place the last person was found!!!
Back to your school work! The topic of the week in maths is ‘Division’. I have attached links to games for you to develop and recall division facts. You will learn about ‘King Arthur and Excalibur’ in History. You will continue learning about ‘An Aimsir’ in Gaeilge and hopefully you will try your best at some more ‘Persuasive Writing’ in English. This week you have to design a poster to persuade people to visit Sligo! You also have music, fitness station and flower drawing activities.
This is a ‘menu’ of work, not prescribed, so please complete what fits with your own household and present circumstances including plenty of outdoor activity. I do not expect all work to be completed by all students. You need to access Mathemagic 3 and Abair Liom 3 on line so I have attached the links below. Any work you find too difficult will be dealt with when school reopens. If you have any academic questions or queries, you can contact me at the following e mail address firstname.lastname@example.org Do not be afraid to email me if you need clarification/answers or suggested solutions to anything. You can also e-mail me some of your work or a screenshot of it! Have a good week and I hope you and your family stay safe, healthy and happy! Ms. Leonard
