5th Class menu of work 30th March-3rd April 2020

27th March 2020

Dear 5th class Parents,

I hope that you, your children and family are keeping well and coping as best as you can with all that has happened in the past few weeks. A lot has changed since we were last in school, these are very worrying times for everyone, so I sincerely hope that you and your families are safe and healthy. In this house, my 20-month-old is finding social distancing very difficult - he doesn't understand why we can't go across the field to Grandad or down the road to our neighbour's house to play or visit. But if we all play our part in this, we will overcome it.

I know I already gave 5th class pupils ‘homework’ for the coming week but below is an updated ‘menu of work’ for Monday 30th March- Friday 3rd April. I recommend, as 5th class pupils, that your children complete ‘school work’ for around 2 hours per day, but I fully understand that every household in the country is different and that you may have to adapt this according to your own personal circumstances. If they want to do some of it, do some of it, if they can do all of it, do all of it and of course feel free to do more! This work should not be a source of stress at home. Your child will not fall behind at school, every child in the country is in the same position, and we will continue to work at each child's level when we all return to the classroom. Apart from what I have outlined above, there are many excellent resources listed on the Rockfield NS school blog, nobody should run out of work and fun things to do!

Please feel free to contact me by email on fifthclassmshorkan@gmail.com if you have any questions about this work or if the children would like to show me some of the work they are completing at home. I would love to see some fantastic work from my brilliant and very hard-working 5th class pupils! I miss your lovely children so much!

Finally, at the risk of irritating you all, please continue to tirelessly promote the washing of hands, sneezing and coughing into elbows and social distancing from others. “If we winter this one out, we can summer anywhere.” Seamus Heaney

Happy Easter everyone, please stay safe and I will be in contact with you again soon.

Don't forget to correct Mental Maths, English In Practice and My Spelling Workbook completed so far- see separate answer sheets below.

I will post relevant answer sheets as you complete the work so you can correct your work at home. Thank you.

Hope you like the ' Funky Easter Bunny' art lesson too! (see below)

Funky Easter Bunny

Hi 5th class boys and girls,

Here is a simple Easter Art idea you can do at home. All you need is paper and colours (and a printer if you’d like to use the templates below).

INSTRUCTIONS: Print (or draw your own) funky Easter Bunny. Fill in with your own unique patterns (or use the ideas below). Cut out. Stick on to a sheet which you have coloured beautifully (see some ideas below).

Happy Easter everyone!!
