First Class Menu of Work 2/6/2020- 5/6/2020

Hello everyone . I hope you all had a good week.

Below is a suggested list of work for the following week 02/06/2020 – 05/06/2020. Remember as always just complete what you can. This week I have put up work for four days Tuesday- Friday as Monday is a bank holiday. It was great to hear from so many people again this week and thank you to those who sent on some of the great work completed again last week. I hope you all have a lovely bank holiday weekend and enjoy the sunshine.

Like last week I have put up a grid on the blog with the work for each day and then here I have added the logins to the individual sites with some extra details too.

Any queries or questions about the list of work please email me for further details on firstclassmsmcintyre@gmail.com

Maths

Over the few days your child will be learning about money and using the following coins 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c and 50c.

Again this week I have said to complete two units in Mental Maths; this is to get the book finished by mid-June. If you feel it is too much to complete two units each week just continue to complete one unit a week.

Tuesday:

P. 150 asks the children to count sets of coins and match sets of 50c coins to the 50c coin in the centre. They are also asked to count and draw specific amounts within 50c.

If you did not collect the books. Go to the CJ Fallon Website (Free login) Click Primary: First Class: Maths: Busy at Maths: Online Book (Click in the eye icon) Go to page 150

Wednesday:

P.151 This page extends the shopping activities to require change as well as revising work completed on the previous page.

Go to the CJ Fallon Website (Free login) Click Primary: First Class: Maths: Busy at Maths: Online Book (Click in the eye icon) Go to page 151 if you do not have the book.

Thursday:

P. 152: This is a fun puzzle page where the children are asked to make a patchwork quilt by colouring spaces that have different totals within 50c.

P. 153: Is another fun puzzle page where the children are asked to add coins to totals within 50c. This is then linked to the number names that the children must find in the word search.

Go to the CJ Fallon Website (Free login) as above.

Friday:

p.154: This page extends the activities to require the children work up to totals within 99c.

I will attach a sheet to the blog of games and activities you can practice at home to reinforce all the content covered this week on money. There are some nice shopping activities for you to try at home.

SESE

This week we will look at Landforms in the Natural Environment. You will observe, identify and explore a variety of landforms found in our natural environments.

Tuesday:

Read p. 91- Today you will name the different landforms and label a picture of the landforms using the word box.

If you do not have access to a printer you could draw a label little pictures of 4 of these landforms.

Login to CJ Fallon to access all the pages listed above on the grid: CJ Fallon Website (Free login) Click Primary: First Class: SESE: Small World: Online Book (Click on the eye icon) – It’s the first option on the page. P.91

Wednesday:

Landform Crossword: Link is up for the following crossword. See can the children remember the landforms they were learning about yesterday.

If you are unable to print off this crossword for the children to complete simply ask the children if they can explain to you what each landform looks like.

SPHE (Thursday)

We will discuss water safety in SPHE over the next two weeks. Water safety Ireland has created a free educational resource for primary schools called PAWS (Primary Aquatics Water Safety). It teaches children how to be safe around water in homes, farms, pools beaches and on our waterways.

When you go on to watersafety.ie

Go to First and Second Lesson plan: LAND PAWS 2.

Click on the first resource you see here in the lesson plan or click on Presentation: Paws 2.

Either of these will bring you to a 14-page story/power point that you could read through this week and discuss with the children.
