This blog post has been written by Caolán in 6th class.
Hello! 6th class has been learning about famous Antarctic explorers like ROBERT FALCON SCOTT, ROALD AMUDSEN and ERNEST SHACLTON and did an art based on the BOREAILS AUSTRALIS.
ROALD AMUDSEN: He was a Norwegian explorer who died in June 1928 [aged 55]. He was the first person to reach the south pole.
ROBERT FALCON SCOTT: He was an English explorer who died in ANTARCTICA in 1912 due
to the cold.
ERNEST SHACKLTON: In 1915 his ship got stuck on a iceberg and he was stuck there for
almost 2 years.
This art is based on the southern lights in ANTARCTICA these southern lights are like the
northern lights but called the BOREALIS AUSTRALIS. 6th class used a mixture of scraping technique and sponges to create these Australis.
