Let’s get creative!
What a busy few weeks we’ve had in our infant classroom! Little hands have been snipping, painting, glittering, and giggling as we explore the magic of winter art. From waddling penguins to jolly Christmas pieces, creativity has certainly been sparkling brighter than tinsel! The children have tried new textures, colours, and techniques, proudly showing off their growing artistic confidence. Each piece is unique, joyful, and brimming with seasonal spirit. Well done everyone!

Tag Rugby
5th and 6th class had a great day out playing tag rugby in Coolaney, hosted by Ross at Connaught Rugby with Geevagh NS also in attendance. The day was full of brilliant tries and try saving tackles. The future of Irish rugby is bright.

Photosynthesis in 6th Class
We looked at the process of photosynthesis, which happens when plants grow. A chemical reaction occurs within a plant, when the plant takes in carbon dioxide, water and the light from the sun to create glucose and release oxygen. This chemical reaction is excellently illustrated by Olivia in our class. We've planted basil and mint seeds with the hope that photosynthesis occurs.

Our Christmas Trip - I want a hippopotamus for Christmas!
Our trip to “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas” began with a whirl of winter coats, bright smiles, and a lot of excited giggles. Before we left the school , Ms Leonard made one very firm announcement: no sneaking a hippopotamus back to school! AFL
This week we have been learning about the AFL/Australian football league. We created a shadow affect with an AFL ball focusing on creating a dark and light affect with paint. 🛣️ Walkability Audit 🚸
Ciarán Hussey (Green-Schools Officer) called to the school on Tuesday 18th November to carry out a Walkability Audit. This involved a group of students accompanying Ciarán to complete a review to see if there were any barriers to active/sustainable travel outside the school and in approaching routes. Owls, Lanterns & First Class Fun! 🦉 🏮 🎨
The children in our Senior Infants and First Class room have been very busy bringing their SESE learning to life! Clean Air Week🟢♻️
This week marks the 7th annual Clean Air Week, from the 17-21st November. The challenge is to investigate air quality outside our school and find ways that we can help to keep it cleaner. This year’s focus is ‘NO IDLING’. Below are some simple ways to keep the air around us clean and some facts about air quality. There are also some facts and myths about idling. Orienteering Event 🗺️
Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership (SSRP) have linked with Orienteering Ireland to create awareness of orienteering and encourage families to get active this winter. On November 16th, there will be an orienteering event taking place in Hazelwood Forest, Sligo. Spooktacular Fun Day 👻
The children and teachers had a fantastic Halloween Fun Day, dressing up in all sorts of creative and spooky costumes! Everyone enjoyed the lively Halloween parade and the excitement of the raffle. All proceeds from the event will be donated to Tubbercurry Cancer Support. What a fang-tactic day it was!
